I noticed another school shooting today.
--------------------------------------------------------

TROUTDALE Ore. (Reuters) - A gunman walked into an Oregon high school gym with a rifle and shot a student to death on Tuesday before he was found dead in a bathroom stall, in the third outbreak of gun violence to shake a U.S. high school or college campus in less than three weeks.

Reynolds High School in the middle-class Portland suburb of Troutdale was immediately locked down, then evacuated room by room as law enforcement converged on the campus of 2,800 students, which had been scheduled to hold its last day of classes on Wednesday before the summer break.

"A gunman entered the high school this morning, shot one student. Unfortunately, that student has died," Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson told a news conference. "The gunman was located and the gunman is also deceased."

Priest killed in Phoenix church shooting

Jun 12, 2014

A shooting at a Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona left one priest dead and another critically injured, police said.

Police received a burglary call about 9 a.m. local time near 16th Avenue and Monroe Street at the Mother of Mercy Mission in the Capitol District, Phoenix Police Department spokesman Steve Martos said.

One priest was shot and died later in hospital while another remained in critical condition, though the nature of his injuries was not known, Martos said.

Phoenix police were "investigating a homicide at a church property", Martos said on Twitter.

No arrests have been made.

A car stolen from church property was later found unoccupied.  It was spotted by KPNX-TV reporter Chris Williams, who alerted the police.

In another example of the rampant gun violence in the US, two shooters went on a rampage in Nevada on Sunday, and killed two police officers and a civilian before killing themselves.

The US averages 87 gun deaths each day as a function of gun violence, with an average of 183 injured, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab and the Centers for Disease Control.

We need to steer these killers toward the billionaires where they can do some real good.

More than one school shootings every week in US

Since the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, there have been an average of 1.37 school shootings for each school week, according to data maintained by Everytown for Gun Safety, a group fighting to end gun violence.

Including Tuesday's incident at a high school in Troutdale, Oregon, 74 school shootings have taken place in the approximately 18 months since the Dec. 14, 2012, Newtown shooting. The average school year typically lasts about 180 days, which means there have been roughly 270 school days, or 54 weeks, of class since the shooting at Newtown. With 74 total incidents over that period, the nation is averaging well over a shooting per school week.

The data maintained by Everytown for Gun Safety also shows that these shootings have occurred throughout the country. In all, 31 states have had an incident of gun violence at a school. Georgia has witnessed far more incidents than others, with 10 happening at schools there since Sandy Hook. There have been seven school shootings in Florida, five in Tennessee, four in North Carolina and four in California.

The majority of the school shootings, 39, have taken place at K-12 schools. The remainder of them have happened at colleges or universities.

Not surprisingly, schools tend to be safer when they are not in session. The longest gap between school shootings appears between mid-June and mid-August of 2013, which falls during summer break, when the majority of students are not enrolled in classes. Other gaps of weeks or longer fall during periods when schools are typically on winter, spring or summer breaks.

Shootings leave 1 dead, 4 injured in US

Jun 16, 2014

Shooting incidents in US states of Los Angeles and Maryland over the weekend have left one person dead and four others injured, reports say.

A man opened fire on Saturday night in South Los Angeles fatally killing another man after their verbal argument escalated, police said.

Derrick Hill, 30, was shot in the face and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Detective Miguel Gutierrez.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of East 78th Street, across from McKinley Avenue Elementary School.

Also in Howard County, Maryland, four men were shot Sunday morning outside a bar called the ‘Ultimate Place 2-B’, three of whom are still in the hospital.

Anthony Heard, 39, was released from the hospital and Emmanuel Arrington, 33, is in stable condition, officials said. But Cristobal Guerroro, 31, of Marion is in critical condition, and Sieyumbe Arrington, 37, is undergoing surgery for his injuries.

It is not clear whether the men were involved in a shootout or whether there was a single shooter. Police have not arrested or named any suspects yet.

In similar incidents in Chicago over the weekend, two people were killed and 25 others were injured.

Every year, more than 30,000 people are shot dead in the United States. About 4.5 million firearms are sold annually in the US at a cost of 2 to 3 billion dollars.

fred:

You shouldn't be doing all these anti-gun stories, I mean guns might be needed for US citizens to take back their government which would put an end to all their criminal activities in the middle east.
