Yes,  the Tartan is classic and fashional. When I was at mid-school, I liked skirt very much, but my school had a rediculous rule that girls couldn't wear skirt.

Never mind now chinalionfish, you are out of school and can wear what you like whenever you like.

I am sure there was some reason for the schools decision, although it will probably remain a mystery.
Maybe naughty boys are to blame.

Did you know that tartan's and the patterns on them are a means of identifying families.
Each family or clan in Scotland have a tartan pattern that has been in the family for many generations.

If you know your tartan's, you can identify someone's family name, just by looking at what they are wearing.

Sometimes there are a couple of versions for each family tartan, an everyday use tartan and a special function or occasion tartan. The special tartan confuse me, they sometimes look very different to the everyday pattern.

Is there any tradition in China for a special pattern on material to be identified with a particular family?
