These days parents want to be friends with their children and not parents, this role is now expect ...

Not to say that teachers have it tough, but if I had to deal with kids who's parents just look the other way, I would go nuts. In an age where both parents must work to keep the household rolling, or parents that don't wish to do their job, parenting surely is left up to the next in line. It's shameful to see the teachers being used as baby sitters. Times have dramatically changed since I was young, and not much for the better for many. I would hate to be a kid now, thinking the future looks very dim. Although it's not impossible to change the future for the better, I don't feel that the majority of today's kids are being brought up well enough to meet the challenge.

I agree, but it all comes back to the family environment and the socioeconomic situation the child comes from. Like adults, children have their own problems to contend with, each very different from the child sitting to the other in the classroom. What needs to be understood is the classroom is a very dynamic place, under the surface. Using this as a basis, parents need to accept their responsibility, ant teachers return to teaching as well as being a role model for the child.
