A new poll shows that support for the Yes vote in an upcoming referendum on Scotland’s independence from the UK is gaining momentum.

According to the poll, published on Sunday on pro-independence website Wings Over Scotland, some 41 percent of Scots were in favour of breaking away from the UK, compared with 46 percent who voted to remain in union with Britain.

The survey, commissioned by the polling company Panelbase, also found that by excluding the 14 percent of voters who are still undecided over the issue, about 47 percent of Scottish people intend to vote Yes while 53 percent plan a No vote in the referendum.

Blair Jenkins, the chief executive of Yes Scotland campaign, described the poll as “encouraging,” adding, “What it clearly indicates is that ‘Project Fear’ is failing and that increasing numbers of people are realizing that Yes promises a better future for themselves, their families and for Scotland.”

Last month a study by polling firm ICM Research also indicated that backing for independence has increased to 39 percent from 37 percent recorded on the previous month.

The poll also found that support for the No vote in the upcoming vote fell from 49 in February to 46 percent.

Scotland is scheduled to have its independence day on 24 March, 2016 if Scottish people vote in the September 18 referendum for the state’s break-up from the UK after more than 300 years of political union.

Was there any explanation why Scotts living outside of Scotland have no vote, or even more peculiar why the rest of Britain has no vote?
