For safety, always ask YOUR LOCAL GUIDE, the "practice" in that particular region in China.

There is no safe, single rule.
People everywhere loves etiquette, but is not solely Chinese.

Sometimes HOST in different parts of China have different practices and how close you are with the HOST.

example, in parts of INDIA......it's impolite to have EARLY DINNER between 6-8pm.

ha ha ha

Is that new to you ---->or you need a local representative.
If you are FAMILIAR with that INDIAN CHAP, you can have dinner at 5pm, no problem.

so, NO FUSS, don't believe in everything you read here!

Why...most Chinese people under 50, don't really know very much or anything about any of those events...
