Hard to say. Most people living in China tend to think that you are a successful person if you have a spacious flat, buckets of wampum and a dishy wife or girlfriend. And another definition or measurement  would be this person's soft skills, say, if this person is able to hobnob with the powers to be and people who are in clover.

Such resourcefulness and cleverness count lots in China in the eyes of most Chinese urbanites. In a nutshell,  they deem you  a successful person if you have many well-off chums and more than one concubine or mistress.

Such views are sappy and cockamamy, and I contend that you are a successful person if you have someone loving you and caring  about you. Love is priceless and can not be monetized.

I'm successful when I can look back and say "no regrets". And in the same time I can look in the eye ...
