North Korea will rebuild and restart nuclear facilities, and across North Korea, soldiers are gearing up for battle and shrouding their jeeps and vans with camouflage netting. Newly painted signboards and posters call for "death to the U.S. imperialists" and urge the people to fight with "arms, not words."
On the other side, The Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United States are accelerating their annual joint military exercises, two B2 stealth bombers flying in the sky over the Peninsula, and one Aegis anti-missile destroyers cruising in the sea around the Peninsula.
It seems a war is imminent after more than half a century truce. China and Russia keep a close eye on the development of the issue, expressing concerns repeatedly. Many viewers affirmed that there will be no war breaking out, on which I agree, because nobody, including all the involved parties can afford a war in the Peninsula. But, both sides are undoubtedly playing with fire, and those who play with fire will burn themselves, as the old saying goes. A war unexpected by either party would break out at any time. With clouds of war hovering over the Peninsula, continuously strong tension engulfing the minds millions of people in the region proves to be endless torture and horrible nightmare.
Given this, I propose a package arrangementfor the issue:
i) The United States withdraws all its troops and weapons from the Peninsula.
ii) DPRK terminates its nuclear plan once and for all, and provides a guaranty of opening to the checkup of International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A)
iii) China and DPRK sign a permanent peace treaty with the USA and ROK over the Korean War in 1950s.
iv) DPRK and ROK normalize their state relationship, sending ambassador to each other.
v) DPRK and USA normalize their state relationship, sending ambassadors to each other.
vi) The above should be detailed in the Four-party Talks including DPRK, ROK, China and USA.
The proposal should be made officially by China. If USA and ROK refuse to accept it, they will be blamed by the international society.
Once again, I’d like to say, I am not an expert, nor a specialist, on the issue. What I propose here is just for reference. I strongly hope the proposal will be fortunately read by somebody and play a role for the peace and benefits of the region.
