And she is doing a brilliant job at it so far.

The reason people care is because the first lady plays a significant role in international good-will. Mme. Peng has clearly taken that role to heart and understands it well. The fact that she is beautiful and gracious will leave many people with a positive image of China. Just as Mrs. Obama's numerous social gaffes (especially with the Queen of England) have tarnished the image of the USA, Mme. Peng's elegance and grace will enhance China's image.

And it's nice to see some pictures of beautiful MATURE Chinese women every once in a while. Mme. Peng is certainly a beautiful lady.
