"One woman is raped every 20 minutes in India, according to the National Crime Records Bureau".
Statistics are bullsh*t. In the US with a population 313 million has a frequency of rapes reported every 6.2 minutes and India with a population of 1.1 billion has one for 20 minutes. Stop making arguments that we are a country of rapist. We are far below the world average in rapes.
And I personally hope that the culprits responsible for this rape will be given maximum sentencing possible. And tourists must take care of themselves that area in Madhya Pradesh is prone to violence, robbery and assaults. Camping in a remote unsafe place is not advisable.

It depends on the situation and circumstances!
If you are stupid enough to camp out in the plains ...
Camping in Africa is fairly safe, if you take elementary precautions. I've slept many nights on the plains and not been eaten. I'd suggest you consider not making provocative and sweeping statements or generalisations and stereotyping otherwise you'll get shot down in flames around here as some of the locals play rough.
