I just returned from my 7th trip to China. I have spent a lot of time in Shenzhen. Since I first started going to China in 2006, I have seen nothing but forward progress and improvement in peoples standards of living there. I forgot what capitalism looks like until I traveled to CHina, it is alive and well there in grand fashion! I plan to retire there.

Recommend the book "The End of the Chinese Dream: Why Chinese People Fear the Future" by Gerard Lemos.

Some portions of the book are repetitive and even boring, but at least you can get a glimpse of what ordinary Chinese really pine for.
We are all prisoners of our own device.
