I know how people like to paint all members of the US military with the same brush, but Petraeus was directly responsible for getting the Americans to stop focusing on hunting down and killing insurgents. He put the focus on what was needed most: protecting civilians so they would be comfortable in their own land again.

What so funny about this case is the CIA is supposed to be a spy agency
Keeping secrets is part of t ...

Commander Iaincoubert!

The CLANDESTINE organization is NOT AN AGENCY to keep secrets.
What it does is DISCOVER OTHER NATION'S SECRETS, and INFILTRATE into other nation's power or economic structure. To do that, it becomes PATRON to FIFTH COLLUMN <like the Jews of Germany, which Herr Hitler hated> or place OPERATIVES into foreign countries.

Secrets are kept by STATE BUREAUCRATS, and KEY REVENUE MERCHANTS of a country. In fact, the CLANDESTINE AGENCY frequently has INTERNAL AGENCIES - in USA case, the FBI to study local SECRETS.

So, their JOB is to discover SECRETS and find out how to MANIPULATE IT.
That's why MICROSOFT and INTEL are so important to the CIA as a REVENUE MERCHANT agency.
These explains why probably FRANCE, JAPAN, GERMANY, UK, RUSSIA & CHINA has been active collaborating to CRIPPLE these two corporations!

Commissar Comrade Smith!

I reckon the DISMISSAL of the RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTER, and the CIA CHIEF indicates displeasure over "events on hindsight". Probably the usual "State theater" to hide the "real reasons for dismissals" - heck even in "large multinationals", such methods are used to reduce the BLOWBACK effect on staffers and network interest.

I reckon I can guess why the RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTER and the CIA CHIEF was dismissed!

Anyway, from 2013 - 2016 could be a DREADFUL EXCITING period for all you MASTERS OF THE CLANDESTINE WORLD.

cheerios!

New details emerge on Petraeus affair

US media say the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) discovered the affair between the four-star general and his biographer Paula Broadwell while investigating harassing emails to a second woman in Florida.

The second woman, whose identity had not been disclosed until now, is named Jill Kelley and is a “long-time friend” of the Petraeus family. She had complained about receiving threatening emails from Broadwell.

Officials told the media that the threatening emails from Broadwell, a married mother of two, showed that she considered Kelley as a potential rival in her affair with the 60-year-old general.

"I know what you did," "back off" and "stay away from my guy," Broadwell told Kelley in the emails.

___________ Corruption in Russian defense industry is like high treason – Vice PM

12 November, 2012

Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia’s defense industry, has urged for tougher punishments for corruption in military procurement. He equated such crimes to high treason.
“Have they [officials responsible for military manufacturing] lost fear? We’ll find it!” Vice Prime Minister Rogozin wrote on Twitter.
Rogozin, Moscow’s former ambassador to NATO, has repeatedly pushed for bribery in state arms orders to be seen as treason, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. A bill to that end was drafted earlier last year, but the Ministry of Justice refused to support the initiative as it violated the principle of equality before the law.
Sergey Ivanov, chief of staff for the current presidential administration, expressed a similar opinion that civil servants convicted of corruption should face tougher sentences, including confiscation of property.
Those convicted of corruption crimes often retain their property by having it registered in a relative’s name, Ivanov explained in an interview with Russian Channel One. “It’d be really good if such crimes ended up not only with court verdicts, but also with the confiscation of all the property acquired by criminal means,” he said.

Ivanov called corruption a direct threat to Russia’s national security, adding that measures aimed at eradicating graft have already yielded positive results.

Combating corruption has been a priority for the administrations of both President Vladimir Putin and his predecessor, Dmitry Medvedev.

Russia has recently been hit by a string of high-profile corruption scandals. Earlier in the year, a probe was launched into the alleged under-priced sale of Defense Ministry real estate to affiliated business companies. The $100 million embezzlement case led to the sacking of Russia’s defense chief, Anatoly Serdyukov, and a major reshuffle of ministry positions.
Another criminal case was launched into the alleged theft of 6.5 billion rubles ($200 million) allotted to develop a Russian version of GPS, dubbed GLONASS. The project is currently being developed by the country’s leading aerospace company, Russian Space Systems. Launched several years ago, GLONASS will be used for both military and civilian purposes.

Ivanov acknowledged that for about two years, he had been aware of the alleged embezzlement of state funds earmarked for GLONASS while the probe was being conducted. The former KGB officer said he did not speak publicly about the case to prevent the suspects from concealing their crimes.

Recalling his experience in foreign intelligence, Ivanov said that “treachery is considered the worst thing there,” and that he holds the GLONASS scandal in the same regard.
