Democracy is slow but irreversible: blind activist

Blind activist Chen Guangcheng said yesterday that democratic change in China was slow, but irreversible. Chen told the Council on Foreign Relations think tank in New York that the internet age meant the Communist Party had already lost much of its former power. He said Beijing was ready to reform, "but I think local authorities are very backward and it's going to take time to change them". AFP
