Yes, I remember the lovely girl. Image matters a lot in China, esp during the international olympic Games. It's not big deal since China wants to show its best to the world. The love for beauty is a nature of all human beings.

Nothing against appreciation for beauty, but those who have neurotic obsession for beauty perfection tend to have shallow personalities.

  It's refreshing to see confident women with character who don't resort to skin bleaching and eye surgery in spite of discriminatory Asians judging other Asians by skin tones and eyes..

I agree with your point. But it's not the fault of these women, but the society that is to be blamed. A society's blatant appeal to vanity makes the plainlooking girls less confident. They may be refused in the job interview and gets no chance to show their talents amid the fierce competition market.

Thanks for your honest reply. If looks weren't so important than why all the mega businesses
bases on cosmetics, clothing, accessories, fashion shows, celebrities, etc.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?
