Well, don't think Mao will help but if it makes them feel better, why not. What is wrong with the houses they bought? If the quality issue is a widespread one, and that seems to be the case in China across a broad spectrum of housing, then the developer should take steps to correct the situation.

I was surprised reading this news, because some people said Shenzhen is a city full of Hanjians who are ready to sell their souls to foreigners.

Well, I hope that they can sort the problem out. Nobody wants an unsatisfactory home.
About Hanjians etc, weeell, many in China sold their souls just to make an extra wu mao every time I bought a pack of smokes. How was that different?
