Buying a non-productive bankrupt company with 1.3 billion dollars is a joke, were it not for the fact that any money siphoned out from China in Yuans at an exchange rate of 6.13 CNY/USD today is a steal compared to the exchange rate 3 years ago, of 6.83 CNY/USD.  This deal would have costed Chinese SOES 8.88 billion yuans in mid-2010, but now costs only 7.99 billion yuans, equal to a discount of 880 million yuans, courtesy of the People's Bank of China.  So, from a Chinese perspective, investors are making 880 milion yuans from the national treasury, even if they will not make a dime in America.

This is an example of the pernicious effects of the overvaluation of the Yuan by China's central bank.

There is no better way to improve business relations than to let the Chinese go to war with the Americans on a baseball diamond.
