Ya, it's normal, and maybe a preference

...while foreigners, especially those from the West, likes reading books?

It's a question asked by Joseph Christian in today's China Daily. ([url]http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/cndy/2011-11/02/con ...

Who says only the Chinese eat on trains ?

I have seen gweilos eating on trains too.

I remember I was in London .... and there was this guy selling hotdogs by the roadside.  The gweilos and gweipos just love to buy from him and munch their hotdogs as they walk to wherever  ...........  WHY SO ?

****

For me, I just don't have the habit of eating on trains (even on long distance overnight train) or eating as I walk. .......... family custom, I guess.

Can you imagine the consumption on submarines? No wonder the evil western world can track our subs anywhere. All they have to do is follow the wake of empty cardboard noodle containers. Well, at least they're biodegradable,

Anyway, back to eating on trains. The slightest jolt always seem to cause that liquid to splash out of the noodle container when returning to your seat. You can always spot the seasoned travelers. The train could leap a meter in the air and those people will not spill a drop; real pros. I hate it when a rookie traveler sets next to me, (I can tell they're a rookie by the 30L bag full of food they drug on the train with them, and it's a one hour trip), and I see them rummage through their bag and pull that noodle container out. That's when I typically put on my rain poncho. I did hear about a new lubricant and if applied to the outside of the train could alleviate the problem all together and keep that liquid where it belongs, in the noodle container.

I'm a western foreigner myself and always have my dinner in the train's restaurant car when travelling. Enjoying a nice meal with a good glass of wine while watching the land passing by... priceless.

Yeah, I know. The most boring, uninspiring and clueless people.

Or people like me who read a book a week but are completely unable to read while in movement (motion sickness). Weirdly enough, if I play or watch a movie I don't feel anything, but as soon as I read (whether on my tablet or a real book) I will feel nauseous.

So thank you for not jumping to conclusion
