re:

I am just one of the many people who feel the same way I am afraid.  Many Chinese I know in Australia don't want to go back.  And many white who have travelled to China had bad experience of being ripped off as tourists.

All the tragedies, poison baby formulas and leaving baby to die that happened in China is turning people away from it.  May be this is the language the leaders would understand, quite unfortunately.

if china has a really bad reputation in the world

if china has a really bad reputation in the world. countries are less willing to trade with it, tourists are less likely to go to it. politicians and leaders are less likely to formulate cooperative policies with it.

They should not be the reasons, why China should improve, but they are the outcomes.

Not money, but humanity

At the heart of this issue is money.

I disagree with your statement.

At the heart of this "issue" is not money at all.

At the heart of this tragedy is humanity or rather the lack thereof.

Money has not been able to totally corrupt humanity, neither has power, religion or politics.

Unless of course there is no humanity in the first instance because we are not dealing with humans. Animals do not have it, bears eat baby bears, lions kill baby lions, Chinese kill 2 y.o. girls for convenience and so forth...

#1 Is that so?

Well I suppose you are in your perfect right to do so.

Meanwhile, millions others will keep on coming here to enjoy the beauty of this country, the friendliness of her people and, of course, the vast cultural diversity that make it so unique.
