You think first class have it cushy with their dainty cutlery and comfy chairs?

Let us introduce you to a different league of air travel, where one plane houses a 'mini-concert hall' and the seatbelts of another are plated in gold

John Trevolta

John Travolta is licensed to fly 11 types of aircraft, including a huge Boeing 707 bearing a vintage livery from Australian flag-carrier Qantas. Staffed by a crew of six, the jet is equipped with an extensive kitchen to ensure guests are catered for as they relax in a cosy, lounge-like cabin complete with sofas, rich wood panelling and several dining tables. Unlike most celebrities, Travolta doesn't even need to worry about getting to the airport to board, as his Florida backyard is equipped with a covered apron, runway and hangars.

Sultan of Brunei

As he's already the owner of one of the world's largest palaces (Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan),
it's perhaps unsurprising that the Sultan of Brunei keeps a whole fleet of planes, said to range from small Gulfstreams to large Boeing and Airbus aircraft, for his personal transportation needs. In the air, the sultan dines from tableware that includes caviar spoons, fine china and Baccarat crystal glasses, and he's surrounded by gold and Lalique crystal fixtures with blue and turquoise leather loungers and matching floral print carpets.

The master bedroom features ornate light fittings, gold-framed pictures and a double bed with, ahem, a mirror above it.

Donald Trump

Size definitely matters to Donald Trump, whose Boeing 757 replaced a smaller 727 earlier this year. Estimated to have cost over £60 million, the plane had been refurbished in line with Trump's trademark style - gold-plated seatbelts, marble bathroom fixtures and polished wood panelling. And, in case anyone is left in doubt as to who owns aircraft, his name is written in huge lettering - 23-carat gold leaf - on the side of the plane.

In-flight entertainment in the passenger cabin is a 58-inch plasma screen loaded with 1,000 movies, along with a state-of-the-art sound system. Taking luxuries like these into account, along with a private bedroom and en-suite bathroom that includes a shower cubicle, it's a wonder Trump's feet ever touch the ground

Oprah Winfrey

Compared to Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey's choice of jet seems positively modest - she owns a £22 million Bombardier Global Express (a similar plane is pictured) which can seat 10 passengers. It's a model also used by Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg and Céline Dion.

For her viewers though, Oprah spared no expense - when she was asked by United Airlines topersonally design the livery of one of their Boeing 757s, she put her signature on the tailfin and promotional graphics to commemorate the final season of her show. Inside, fans were treated to an interior with plenty of new Oprah-inspired artwork, along with specially monogrammed blankets and even a video message from the star herself.

US President

It is so heavily kitted out with military modifications that sometimes Air Force One is described as a flying fortress. The Boeing 747 first took to the skies in 1990 and acts as a flying White House, providing everything from an Oval Office to private living quarters for Barack Obama and his family.

Woe betide the person who attempts to interfere with this plane: it's equipped with anti-aircraft missile countermeasures and shielded wiring ensures it can withstand an electromagnetic pulse generated by a nuclear attack, while its in-air refuelling capability allows it to stay airborne for as long as is necessary.

President of Russia

Dmitry Medvedev may be eligible for that slightly dubious title: person with best restrooms in the sky. His aircraft, a Russian-built Ilyushin II-96PU, has bathrooms with gold sinks, bidets and shower cubicles with two water heads.

Pictures of the interior, leaked following a £10 million refit, show spacious salons with green and beige leather armchairs, controls for the entertainment system embedded into the tables and plenty of gold plating.
