Music websites have been given until 15 September to remove the offending tracks, which officials say harm "national cultural security".
......
Among the Western acts, Lady Gaga has six banned tracks: The Edge of Glory, Hair, Marry the Night, Americano, Judas and Bloody Mary. Beyonce's Run the World (Girls) has also been outlawed as well as Katy Perry's Last Friday Night, which has lyrics about a menage a trois.

The list also includes the Backstreet Boys track I Want It That Way, which was released more than a decade ago.

Could it be more ridiculous, at least as far as this ministry is concerned?

Endangering "national cultural security"? Everything that's popular and perhaps better than that produced in China is harmful to China's whatever security?

Why not ban the broadcast of the English Premier League or the World Cup? They are harming China's football/soccer security!

Why not ban the transmission of NBA? It's eating out China's basketball security!

Why not ban the use of English, and other foreign languages for that matter, altogether? They are detrimental to China's language security.
