Iran hangs a child murderer in public

15 June 2011.

Iran hanged in public on Wednesday a man convicted of raping and killing an eight-year-old girl in the southern town of Neyriz, the state television website reported.

The report did not identify the man but said he was a close relative of the girl, adding that he stole her gold before raping and murdering her.

The latest hanging brings to 155 the number of executions reported in Iran so far this year, according to an AFP count based on media and official reports.

Iranian media reported 179 hangings last year.

But international human rights groups say the actual number was much higher, making the Islamic republic second only to China in the number of people it put to death.

The death penalty should remain in China for high serious crimes. Education is the best prevention to civilize
the chinese people. The courts in China should also be aware that innocent people can also be framed by
wicked people.

Any country which continues to carry out the death penalty is barbaric.

Can't you see any irony at all in sanctioning "legal" murder while punishing "illegal" murder????
