But you don't feel sad when gadhafi's kills his people?  Those were not human beings?

Gadaffi was fighting CIA/Mossad.MI6 funded and armed forces doing the bidding of the genocidal West. The
extent of civilian casualties is unknown in the absence of an unembedded media.

To abstain is to acquiesce, that's at least how China is perceived as far as "veto" is concerned.
We are all prisoners of our own device.

Right - so in essence, China did support this intervention.  Ok fine - you had the power to veto, you didn't for good reasons, so why are you complaining about it now?  Same with Putin.  The wo ...

Do you understand the difference between a no-fly zone and direct intervention? Clearly you don't.

"you had the power to veto, you didn't for good reasons, so why are you complaining about it now?"

Allow me to explain: Both the Arab League and the African Union have a greater say in the affairs of Africa than the west and China, wouldn't you say? Should their concerns be respected or not? China respected them by not vetoing as they requested. The west, on the other hand, fooled them and under the guise of a no-fly zone directly intervened with direct attacks.

You do know that both the Arab League and the African Union have condemned the aerial attacks? You know why? It's coz they both understand the difference between a no-fly zone and a direct intervention. China also understands the difference. That's why they respected the wishes of the Arab league and the African Union and also condemn the aerial attacks....

Understand....?

In other words China, the Arab League and the African Union naively took at face value that the  west understood what a no-fly zone meant. And they were betrayed....typical imperialistic behaviour....

Understand now...?

The war is a very confusing place where people are not sure unlike a tsunami where to be safe.  People will be killed by the western force this has been proven in the past even some of the western force will be killed by Americans as "friendly fire deaths" have been in the past please follow along with the theory "war is hell" and this war is no different.  In a tsunami the wave leaves the place destroyed and soaked but it won't come back and those that made it to safety headed for high ground at the right time, war is not like that.

The news media in the USA stress the people shot or wounded were "unarmed..." without a doubt they could have been marching in the streets of Lybia no joking without arms but indeed they became an armed group in a hurry and may have been holding arms counter Lybian laws.  So back-off western press the false charges wmd have pissed many people off forever.

Fighting in the desert, really depends on "preparation".

In this case, Libyan government forces should have "advantage" - and how much the "mutinied Generals" of the Rebel Forces knows about such preparations.

I would reckon, a good Libyan Colonel - in preparation for "invasion" by US forces would have
(1) Oasis, Fuel dump, weapon dump "scattered" all over Libya.
(2) Battle will consist of HEAVY TANK - rapid deploy, city invasion units.
(3) Light trucks, with high caliber gun (distant shooting), SNIPERS, and anti aircraft light missiles!

While air support from British, French and USA led air units will "disperse" the "heavy tank - panzer" elements, it's rather expensive to use "US$1 million a shot smart bombs" to attack "US$15,000 light truck with big caliber gun" units!

What this does, is rather simple!
STALEMATE the battle for Libya!
and STOP oil production - Libyan Government forces will decimate the oil production, to reduce "value" of the "invasion"! This will PUT PRESSURE on Spain, Italy on "petroleum supplies"!

cheerios!

wake up funky - abstaining is not the same thing as being in favour - it is a way of staying off to one side and allowing those with a more local interest in the affair have their say.

China did not VETO simply because of the way the resolution was worded - "a no fly zone" - the resolution did not specify open all out war by the US/UK against Gadhafi.

Since the overly aggressive actions of the sneaky US/UK cowards the African Union and the Arab league have expressed their anger at the way the resolution has been translated to mean more than they intended.

The US and UK went far beyond the mandate - and you can be sure this will not be forgotten by Russia and China in future dealings with these weasels.....
