you are right.
dating back to the 15th century, porcelain, silk and Chinese specialties had been like top-class things in Europe

first used in royal family, then sold on the market (at expensive prices)

then and now...

now we can find great value at sidewalk vendors aka fleamarket for fake antiquewares (even jade dinnerwares if you have some extra cash...yeah cash transaction only)
