The Chinese won't understand -- it isn't part of their history. They do have several memorial days, say, marking the invasion of Japanese.

Different mentality -- Remembrance day in the West is to remember those who fought for freedom, indepedence, while memorial days in China constantly remind people of their past victimization.

PS: In case you don't know, "Double 11" (Nov 11, aka 11. 11) is now unofficially recognized as Singles' or Bachelors' Day in China.
We are all prisoners of our own device.

. . . but I believe you have A r m y  Day in China.

Therefore Nov 11 internationally serves dual purpose. Singles Day in China and Remembrance Day in Canada. . .  cool   :)

We Japanese remembers our dead too.
We give prayers in our war heroes' shrines.


Many of my fellow Japanese are proud their ancestors fought for the freedom and peace of Mankind.
