actually, by default ryukyu would be returned to china.  but when it's offered the america puppet government of chiang kai shek refused.

Anyway, Japan did agree that the sovereignty of Ryukyu is to be jointly determined by the Allied Powers, i.e. China, Russia, UK and US.

In the Potsdam Declaration, it is clearly stated that:

"Japanese sovereignty shall be limited to the islands of Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and such minor islands as we determine."

And in the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, it is clearly stated that:

"We, acting by command of and in behalf of the Emperor of Japan, the Japanese Government and the Japanese imperial General Headquarters, hereby accept the provisions set forth in the declaration issued by the heads of the Governments of the United States, China and Great Britain on 26 July 1945, at Potsdam, and subsequently adhered to by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, which four powers are hereafter referred to as the Allied Powers.

We hereby proclaim the unconditional surrender to the Allied Powers of the Japanese Imperial General Headquarters and of all Japanese armed forces and all armed forces under Japanese control wherever situated."

the US has use it to hammer a wedge between china and japan.

last time during the xian mutiny, the pro-american, xtian component of pro-japanese chiang kai shek's governemnt also use the opportunity of chiangt's temporary letdown to shift china's royalty from japan to america.

does china want to also get nuked by america next time like japan did the last time?

The SF treaty has no power to supersede the Potsdam declaration. It can do so only with the authorization of the five parties involved.

the sf deal is the current point of contention between japan and china.

as to the five parties, the problem is that the chinese party was a puppet of america and never legitimately represented china.  same thing applies to the tibet and xinjian problems.

history must be revised to show how much the puppet government of chiang and sun has sold out china and tried to exterminate the only legit representation of china led by mao. also, japan's contribution to prevent the whole-sale out of china by this puppet government should be credited.  the arms that japan surrendered to mao to kick out the puppet government is evidence.
