I am trying to get an idea too!

Well, but grassland should easily be able to produce at least 20 tonnes of fodder a year!
and rice fields, wheat fields, other grains has large amount of fodder, but i am not sure it's food value!

Chicken is most productive, 3 kg of grain produces 1 kg of meat!
Pork is second most productive, Cattle's are mainly consumers of fodder - worthless grass, stalks etc.

Better not waste opportunity to produce food!

cheerios!

30 mil hectares out of 150 mil hectares of arable land for rice!
With target of getting 15tonnes of rice, by 2020 in at least 50% of that land!

wow!

Rich farmers, imagine 1 hectare x Rmb2/kg x 15 t = Rmb 30,000 income per hectare!

hmmmmm

USA produces 12 mil tonnes of beef!

Argentina, Brazil can produce more, i reckon, except, it needs a "market" to expand production!
I think it's the marketing of the meat, thats a problem!
In Germany, PORK is the main PROTEIN SOURCE consumed!

hmmmm

Don't Give Chinese People More Health Problems

High calories food is NOT RECOMMENED for China.

Air and water pollution, smoking ... already a big headache for future Chinese people.

Don't need more!    Chickens and ducks and eggs more than enough!

Beside grain crops,
should also consider other cash crops such as cotton, soya & potato.
Especially potato crops are more suited in arid areas in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and North China.
On hilly areas should also consider planting fruit trees such as apples, pears, persimmons,
peaches, cherries, etc, etc that also help in reforestations too because you only harvest the fruits and don't cut down these trees.
Please don't shoot, I'm just a babe.

Can grow fruit trees such as apples, cherries, persimmons & etc,etc on hilly slopes.
Helps in reforestation in semi-arid lands.
