Without air superiority, the slower bomber could be sitting duck....
Like what i saw in Russian Mikoyan Corporation YOUTUBE advertistment, they attack the AWAC first.....
and your jets, bombers ...
You mean China's AWAC's are going to be as stupid as to venture outside of its safe operating perimeter and allow SAM's or AAM's to even come close to it?
If that's how China or other countries operates their AWAC's, then that would defeat the very purpose of the AWAC now, wouldn't it?
Besides, I thought all of those planes (including the tankers) have flairs and decoys whose purpose is to confuse AAM's and SAM's and, what about the fighters which flies in tandem with these larger planes as its defense measures???
When bombers goes out on their missions, they usually have free rein over the territory they would be targeting. When B-52's carpet bombed Nam, they operated at such heights such that they would be out of range of the SAM's which targets them, or, John MaCain would have entered the region and he will have taken out all of the SAM batteries if he's not downed himself then the B-52's and H-6's starts to swarm in...
The B-1, Tu-22, like the B-58, was designed for tactical nuclear attacks. In other words, they are not required to do low altitude operations -- they simply delivers their load and drop it as assigned and the high tail it outta there at warp speed. This feat the H-6M & K have mustered...
