You are quite wrong!

The OP did start by mixing a personal episode he went thru during his tenure in China and I answered with a comparison; when in Rome do as the Romans do!

As for the rest of your post, please read my first and further replies to the OP!

I have no sympathy whatsoever to those who abuse power and who force inocents to get down in unsafe pits!

Is there a union?
And if so what % of the miners are members? (Probably would be difficult to get an accurate figure for the total # of workers)

It seems a lot of questionable things go on in China that are seldom  questioned or challenged by the general public,

mainly because generally when a Chinese complains about some official or police he is put in jail.

In the west- any official or police's abuse can be called out in the media, unfortunately the media in China is on a short string

and really doesn't support the Chinese people, in fact it is used as a tool to aid in the suppression of the Chinese people.

Paying lip service to problems like the mining industry, then the problem continues.

China needs a free media to help protect the Chinese people from abuse and subjugation from the powers that be........
