Robert Rhodes, the agent who was arrested for beating Zhao Yan, was actually acquitted. He sued to try to get his job back, but I don't know if he succeeded or not.

Why do they beat Chinese tourist??

The truth about it:

June 13, 2008
COURTS: Embattled custom agent back to work
Arbitrator says officer acquitted in 2004 incident deserves old job

Besides that, this has nothing to do with the treatment of petitioners.
