China option is rather straightforward!

It would have to

(1) Increase trade with BR(I)M, British Club states - importing Energy, Minerals, Feedstock-mostly Brazil Soya crop and exporting Hypermarket products, durables, components.
(2) Encourage Rmb Zone in IndoChina, Indonesia and Phillipines.
(3) Provide confidence to the "intermediate", "component" suppliers in Asian Trade Route States.
(4) Providing market for the BIPS , AFrican states.
(5) Keep European and American market!
(6) Expand domestic consumption via INFRASTRUCTURE improvements, increasing salaries in super centres, and more investment in engineering needs of the military, cnsa.

That would be expected!

Marvellous!

Foxconn is a cost plus producers, like most of Taiwan's industries!
It appears to be an OEM for big American Brands, but Taiwan seems to be developing products for Americans instead ofmerely being an OEM supplier!

Rmb 8 billion is a large sum!
You must realize, "electronic sweat shops" nowadays has "air conditioning" - especially electronics, "clean rooms", and "delicate equipment" that don't do well in relocating, that means relocating plants is not a simple matter as a furniture, garment sewing factory!

Foxconn will need 'GUARANTEES" from local labour unions - no wage increase for at least 10 years, from my calculations! (to make it viable! I am sure, they will also ask for concessions!)

It will add "INVESTMENT figures" for the province that receives the relocation, and gain it Rmb 1.5 billion in additional workers wages, and other benefits - port, truck, business travellers! So, let's see how much FOXCONN can "FOX" out of Henan or Sichuan!

You can expect it from "Battle harden" Taiwan business people!
We should not expect anything less, i reckon!
So, Be prepared!

Cheerios!

What you said is not correct. As several strikes rippled through China the government did not step in, but allowed and encouraged them to spread. These strikes are not seen as a political movement but as an economic one. They serve as a way to help restructure China's export driven economy to a more sustaining one, driven by ordinary people who want to have more cash to spend.

Labor experts say that the movement for higher wages reflects a younger and smarter workforce that is better organized and has higher expectations than the older generation. Strikes for higher wages are in line with the trend of economic development. Also do not forget that these workers have kept their demands limited and were nowhere ever calling for independent unions.

Labor disputes are seen as just that, labor disputes and if they're justified receive even the blessing of Beijing. One can say congratulations to the calm approach from the workers, who remained controlled and out of the street. They were negotiating for their legitimate rights and this is considered fair and acceptable.

Wouldn't Henan, Chongqing are better locations than high income Tianjin!

800,000 assembly worker army!
150,000 in Henan, 100,000 in Chongqing (Sichuan), 170,000 in Tianjin, and 300,000 in Shenz ...

The wages for factory workers in Henan will start at 1,200 CNY and after three months, and a positve test result,  climb to 2,000 CNY. Nowhere will they be as low as what you've mentioned. The time of rock bottom wages is coming to an end.
