The Indian part is far less negative than the Indian press would suggest. This is also a surprise.

Almost all of the developing, developed nations don't have a good opinion of China's rise

I doubt it. We have to VERY clearly distinguish between military and economic might and this is somehow refelected in this poll.

You can't separate military and economic might for a big country like China. Economic might is directly related to military might

The French and South Koreans fear Chinese economic growth. With China's expansion into many industries, combined with a general lower cost of doing business, the Chinese companies will be able to do very well in most. This means the economic future of both is rather dim until the cost of doing business in those countries is closer to that of China.

The South Koreas are vunerable as they are heavy into industrial manufacturing something China does well and will improve on. This is why I think South Korea has been over the last 10 years or so been moving up the value chain, producing more premium products then what they used to. From Samsung to Hyundai, SK is no longer the source for bargins

Secondly I think the South Koreans are  concerned about cultural dominance by China

No surprises from Pakistan and Nigeria, China's allies. Only they were positive about China's rise

S.Korean anger is more because of Chinese partiality of not being fair. It still tries to save N.Korea at the cost of relations with South. S.Koreans were disappointed by China's stand in the latest incident. They thought China had grown into a mature power and is more fair than before. They were proved wrong !!!
