It was only a few short years ago that the English language began to replace the French language as the most important international language around the world.

Before the end of the second world war in 1945, the French language was still the most important international language around the world.

World international conferences used to he held in French.

The League of Nations ( before the United Nations replaced the League of Nations ) was headquartered in French-speaking Geneva, and official documents were drawn in French. ( even today, all United Nations documents have to be written in French as well as in English )

Everybody used to learn to speak French around the world. Former Chinese prime minister Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiao Ping learned to speak French and studied in France. Former English prime minister Churchill learned to speak French and spoke French with General Charles De Gaulle and all the French army generals during WW II.

Until the 1960s, Chinese students were learning French, and not English. Brazilian students, Chilean students, Rumanian students, Cambodian students, Congolese students were all learning French and not English.

English only became the world's most important international language in the past few years because American became the biggest and the most powerful country in the world.

However, most economists are now predicting that China will overtake America, and that China will become the biggest and the most powerful country in the world.

China will soon have 3 times the GDP of America, which means that China will have 3 times the economic and military power of America. The Chinese banks will soon be 3 times bigger than the American banks. The Chinese army will soon be 3 times more powerful than the American army. The Chinese universities will soon be 3 times bigger and better than the American universities.

Therefore, the Chinese language will soon begin to replace the English language around the world, the same way as the English language began to replace the French language around the world after the second world war.

Logically, the Chinese language will have overtaken the English language by the year 2025 or 2035, depending on how fast every country around the world can start to learn Chinese and build Chinese language schools instead of English language schools.

I guess that we should be learning Chinese instead of learning English.

Does it matter if the Chinese language is No. 1?

Even if the day came, Chinese would have to learn English. Sunzi said only if we know our opponents and ourselves,  we can beat them.

I don't hope foreigners learn Chinese, therefore they will never win.

Okay, the UK is an overseas province of  Germany.

They are not your cousins. They are your masters.
