I don't think you're shameful. I think you're abhorrent. 可恶.

Unruly behaviours are not natural to me. The more they disgrace themselves, the more I find them distasteful. That's natural.

You want city people to accept them with open arms. That is tantamount to corrupting the city people. To be accepted with respect, the farmers needs to change themselves. You don't tell kids to behave themselves. You cane them!

This is in accordance to Yijing; in accordance with nature.

How can you tell spoilt brats that their behaviours are acceptable and expect them to change? What logic is that?

People from rural areas have poor upbringings. If they allow their hearts to rule over their heads, it is their fate to be subjected to rule by people who can control their heads.

Criticism is not an insult.

I don't care what proper solutions people may have on this issue. If it works, I'm fine with it. But a harsh criticism is deem necessary. Both the soft and hard approach has to go hand-in-hand. Carrot and stick

Another poor example of racism on cd forum, however, interesting, because it show how asians see themselves (not anglo/chinese point of view this time) and also, more interesting, how chinese see themselves: farmers/ urban, south/north, there are many stereotype among chinese themselves, especially in the south, shanghai is surely the best example: ask a shanghai people if he would marry is daughter to a "su bei ren", answer always "interesting" and give you many doubt about the "han, one ethnic group" ideology...

Ugly Chinese And The World Expo

I'm just back from the World Expo and I find many 'surprises' there.

Unpleasant experiences

While I was amazed by the many fascinating things in Jiangnan, its peculiar trees, beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers and forests and its beautiful women, I was also stunned by the uncultured behaviour of farmers and workers from rural areas and remote provinces that had swarmed Shanghai for this event.

They bring along their bad cultures. They spit anywhere on the ground. They are loud and noisy. They cut queues like nobody's business. Children as old as 9 years old are wearing specially designed pants with a convenient zip below their groin to allow them to pee anywhere in Nanjing Road.

The World Expo is a great event but it has some disappointments too.

On my last visit last Saturday, visitors topped 500 thousand people. It shows that the organisers are capable of handling more than half a million visitors to an event in a single day without break down.

Unfortunately, the cutting queues was a great discouragement. People don't follow orders. They try to take advantage whenever they can. Always rushing and pushing and removing dividers. And the spit on the ground!

The big event

The event is not meant to showcase each countries' technological achievements and ideas for a better city living. It is designed to attract China's 'country folks' to their products and commercial brands.

The U.S.A. Pavilion is one of the most 'fey' (nonsense) and insincere pavilions in the Expo, showing only video clips in 3 of its 4 halls. The last hall promotes American products and brands like Amway, Microsoft, Dell, Chevron...etc.

Of all the eight pavilions I've visited, only China's is up to expectations. It shows their aspirations for renewal energies. They show off their electric cars. In fact, China is already using electric motors on their bikes. People as far as in Anhui Province are riding the soundless and environmentally-friendly electric bikes. This is one of the greatest astonishments I've seen in all the 5 cities I've visited in Jiangnan. Police in Shanghai are driving patrol cars that are powered by the noiseless electric motors too.

I hope to see better people in my next visit to China.

Hello there, thanks.  Thanks for sharing your experience at Shanghai Expo with us.

I feel very heartened, very encouraged after reading your post.

In fact, I had no plan to travel to Shanghai this year.  But because of your post, I find it imperative that I should not miss this chance of seeing Shanghai Expo and the Chinese people at their best.

Rest assured, I am not being sacarstic here.  In fact, I am a very direct person and I speak my mind without mincing my words.

What you write here is not offensive.  But quite the contrary, I find it very encouraging and I am truly pleased.

However, what I find EXTREMELY offensive is not your post but YOU !!!

To me, I feel that you are worse and far far worse than those Chinese coming from the rural or countryside who talk LOUDLY, spit and jump queue.

What is it that I find offensive in you?

You've got NO SOUL.  You've got NO SPINE.   You are MAN's saddest failure.

And you still want to return "to see better people" in Cina?

Communistsec is right.  You should say "shame on myself"

and that's it.

And again the old pattern:

A Chinese who criticizes China and its people= shameless/evil/traitor
A Chinese who praises everything= a good and perfect son of mother China.

you must live under a rock to be shocked with rural peasant behaviour. you think i expect anything when dealing with one of those american pie uni students? spends 10s of thousands to party and drink and fail courses. am i shocked if they decide to throw furniture around in the snow? or set off fire works on the premises? or pull fire alarms every night? NOPE. you'd think i would be, seeing its its supposed to be a higher learning environment.

but nah. i know american pie lifestyle. it is well within expectations that they behave like cavemen.
