Who asks the world such questions anyway? Aren't the Chinese busy building their country, its infrastructure and its rapport with other developing nations? Why then do they waste their time on slapping themselves on the shoulder?

That is the problem - the Chinese [government] is too busy building infrastructure and boosting its economic growth yet neglected its social problems. For example, China's Premier Wen Jiabao has said a spate of fatal attacks on schools shows the country has "social tensions" which must be addressed. Thus, it is crucial that attention is not only paid to the economic growth but also the social and political problems. Should they not be addressed, it shall hinder China's rise as a nation.

hmm actually when you see all of that put together in one post the anti western/anti anglo stuff in the forums does start to make a lot more sense. ( i hadn't seen this even if its old). Its hard to disagree with what's written - although the sentiments expressed are very black and white with little room for the grey. But as I've said in previous posts Western media tends towards the critical and avoids the positive whatever the nation, issue or political subject under discussion.

But I get how it must be hard not to take it personally. Big powerful nations come under attack more than small nations - look at the anti americanism in the press, its as prevalent if not more so as anti china press, the issues might be different but they are there.
