Well BIGGER MORE WELL DEVELOPED economies has more AVENUES to invest.

it's likely to be more PRIMARY industries - like resources, infrastructure investment, basic consumer goods in DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. While more can be DIGESTED in DEVELOPED states!

it really depends on the TARGET state suitability. Will the investment gain from PROFITS, more resources available for China, benefit from CAPITAL VALUE gain via currency appreciation, asset valuation or are more risky asset class!

CURRENTLY CHINA invest to gain access to more resources, to gain influence in foreign states and assets that can gain value. Asian Trade Route states are big economies in their own right, and China needs to expand her influence in the region!

They aid China for very good reasons!

No free lunch, it appears, except for the very poorest states....
and that too, to make the donor state's own citizens feel better about their own condition....
most aid happens for good geopolitical reasons....
