China has its problems...

Like I had previously stated on the thread about animal cruelty, China certainly has its own problems. Many of these problems are from culture, and have nothing to do with China's government. So the Wen/Hu team in Beijing has the added responsibility to take the lead in bringing progressive legislations to China, given the authoritarian nature of the Chinese political system. Unlike many other more developed societies in the world, China just solved its food and other basic problems, and given its historical difficulties and demographic realities, one cannot expect China to jump into "democracy" overnight, nor can one expect the Chinese people to be ready for all the responsibilities that are associated with a functioning democracy on such short notice. So, for China to progress, it, more so than many other nations, needs a good, focused and progressive governnment that is effective and resolute. I hope China can grow into an enlightened, kind and generous nation, and this hope hinges on the hard work of the government to help make into reality.

That said, it is vital that the PRC's government take the lead in making sure that Chinese society return to one of moral responsibility and humanity. What is the point of wealth for China's citizens if their lives are full of nothing but strife and struggle? From this humanity, then compassion can be extended to not only people, but animals so that Chinese society can truly become modern and civilized. China's government is the key to progress, and I hope Beijing does not let the Chinese people down.

As a member of the educated elite, (or you could be one of those fakes posing as an ultra-nationalistic Chinese trying to stir up more anti-China sentiment) let's hope you can develop wisdom in differentiating  foreigners  offering constructive criticism from the rabid knee-jerk anti-China zealots.
