It's a sensible subject
I think that :
1) dog and cat are -traditionnal-meat in china.
2) anti animal mistreat law mainly come from west countries where dog and cat are traditionnaly not eaten.

I think China should respect its own food culture. But should be more strict with animal mistreat: the two problems are not contradictory.

No matter human eat dog, beef, pork,mutton, fish or other, we accept that these animal die. For me, it makes no difference if its a beef, a mutton or a dog. the problem is to minimize animal suffering.

If the indian who prohibit beef meat ask the american to stop eating beef, what should happen?

More Korean influence further north I'd think, Jilin/Liaoning. Dog meat (gou rou), not for me!
