Google suspends ad for book on atomic cover up

Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:52PM GMT

A book that delves into the cover-up of a film documenting the horrors suffered by victims of the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki has been deemed too violent for Google's advertising program.

Greg Mitchell's new book, Atomic Cover-Up: Two U.S. Soldiers, Hiroshima & Nagasaki and The Greatest Movie Never Made, is the first to be devoted to the historic full-color footage that was covered up by the U.S. government for decades. The Raw Story

HIGHLIGHTS

Google's "ad word team" notified Mitchell Monday that an online ad for the book's video trailer was being suspended because it "promotes violence." Ozconspiracyhouse.org

In his latest book, award-winning author Greg Mitchell probes a turning point in U.S. history: the shocking suppression of film footage, for decades, shot by a U.S. Army film team in Hiroshima and Nagasaki -- a wrong turn with staggering consequences even today. Blurb.com

The book is a detective story, a profile of two remarkable military officers, and one of the last little-told stories of World War II (and its aftermath). Blurb.com

FACTS & FIGURES

In the weeks following the atomic attacks on Japan 64 years ago, and then for decades afterward, the United States engaged in airtight suppression of all film shot in Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the bombings. Whale.to

This included footage shot by U.S. military crews and Japanese newsreel teams. In addition, for many years, all but a handful of newspaper photographs were seized or prohibited. Whale.to

The public did not see any of the newsreel footage for 25 years, and the U.S. military film remained hidden for nearly four decades. Whale.to

On August 6, 1945, during World War II (1939-45), an American B-29 bomber dropped the world's first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. History.com

The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure. History.com

Three days later, a second B-29 dropped another A-bomb on Nagasaki, killing an estimated 40,000 people. Japan's Emperor Hirohito announced his country's unconditional surrender in World War II in a radio address on August 15, citing the devastating power of "a new and most cruel bomb." History.com

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were certainly among history's most hideous acts of violence.Oppenheimer and
Truman, both od Anglo Jewish heritage, should have been executed for the monstrous crime.
