... nice arguement and all, but a thesis from 30+ years ago as the basis of your "elite" theory?  Nice try, but not quite... especially with the last few electon cycles - on a logal, stat ...

.
Somw theories endure times and relevant, some are outdated Mr. Panda.

One wonders whether Einstein's Theory of relativity is out of date yet?

It is after all more than 100 years old now.

But it is while advancing through their professions that the unity of thought begins to emerge. By the time men and women reach the top of the corporate or professional ladder, their common experiences have given them a shared way of looking at economics and politics so that they experience and react to events in the same ways. When they enter public service these people cannot, as Mills explains, shed their heritage:

The interesting point is how impossible it is for such [political appointees] to divest themselves of their engagement with the corporate world in general and with their own corporations in particular. Not only their money, but their friends, their interests, their training--their lives in short--are deeply involved in this world...The point is not so much financial or personal interests in a given corporation, but identification with the corporate world. To ask a man suddenly to divest himself of these interests and sensibilities is almost like asking a man to become a woman.

This inability to "divest" oneself of one's past is perhaps what once led a former chairman of General Motors to declare "What's good for GM is good for America."

Expatter,
Why don't you just post the link to this paper instead on passing it off as your own thoughts.....
At the same time you could also post some of the other theories from the same sources.

The link is in #1 of this thread, at the top.

So that even the Blind can feel it.

You just need to add the dib dib dib and a dot.
Do you need a citation for these instructions as well ?
They are after all, not mine!

"passing it off as your own thoughts....."    ??????????????????????????
If you had read it you would not have had to feel the need to say this.
Shame on you.

"I would also be very glad to read the other 'Elite Theory' models".

As I know of it there is only one.

And it has a name, 'The Elite Theory'.

But.............................

Brief break down of the Elite Theory

Elite Theory

1.0   Society is divided into the few who have power and the many who do not. Only a small number of persons allocate values for society; the masses do not decide public policy.

2.0   The few who govern are not typical of the masses who are governed. Elites are drawn disproportionately from the upper socio-economic strata of society.

3.0   The movement of non-elites to elite position must be slow and continuous to maintain stability and avoid revolution.Only non-elites who have accepted the basic elite consensus can be admitted to governing circles.

4.0   Elites share a consensus on the basic values of the social system and the preservation of the system. (in the United States, the elite consensus includes private enterprise, private property, Limited government, ] and individual Liberty.)

5.0   Public policy does not reflect demands Of the masses but rather prevailing values of the elite. Changes in public policy will be incremental rather than revolutionary.(incremental changes permit response to events that threaten a social system with a minimum of alternation of dislocation of the system.)

6.0   Active elites are subject to relatively little direct influence from apathetic masses. Elites influence masses more than masses influence elites.
