Iran to replace Persian Gulf radar

Iranian scientists are planning to develop domestic radars to replace a series of aging Russian-made systems currently deployed in the Persian Gulf.

"The systems will be designed and installed chiefly for defense purposes," said Vice President for Science and Technology, Nasrin Soltankhah, in an interview with Fars News Agency on Saturday.

She added that the new radar systems will also feature capabilities to provide meteorological data for weather forecasting and analysis.

This comes only a day after Iran announced that the country's first indigenous air defense system, dubbed Mersad (Ambush), is ready to become operational.

Equipped with sophisticated radar signal processing technology, Mersad features cutting-edge technology to "destroy modern aircraft at low and medium ranges" and contains exclusive electronic equipment for guidance and target acquisition.

According to Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi, Mersad features capabilities that are superior to those in the US-made Hawk missile, which Tehran purchased in the 1970s.

The country has already begun mass-producing the new medium-range missile and plans to deliver a sizeable number to the armed forces by the end of the year.

The mullahs' regime is using Israel as a fukken excuse .....

.

.... to obtain nuclear might.

The Iranians are not going to nuke Israel (there are 1.5 million Israeli-Arabs and other minorities living in Israel, plus another 1.5 million Palestinians living within 40 kilometers of the Israeli borders). What the mullhas' regime are after, ....... is  a biiggg modder fukker Islamic Republic from the Strait of Gibraltar, all the way to the Persian Gulf.....

None of those Muslims governments from Gibraltar to the Gulf want any part of it. But ..... don't take my word for it, ..... I'm just another Mossad employee .....

Read the local newspapers in English of those countries ... and find out by yourself.

For once we agree- Iran won't nuke Israel, because it doesn't want to be nuked by Israel, and having nukes would ensure that wouldn't happen.

M.A.D. in the M.E., better get used to it.

Iran unveils 'faster' uranium centrifuges

BBC's Jon Leyne: "The key is Iran's intentions"

Iran's president has unveiled new "third-generation" centrifuges that its nuclear chief says can enrich uranium much faster than current technology. The centrifuges would have separation power six times that of the first generation, Ali Akbar Salehi said in a speech marking National Nuclear Day.

Uranium enrichment is the central concern of Western nations negotiating with Iran over its nuclear programme.

The new technology could shorten the time it takes to build a nuclear bomb.

Tehran insists its nuclear programme is solely for peaceful purposes.

Friday's announcement comes as members of the UN Security Council discuss a new round of sanctions against Iran over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.

Ambassadors from the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany - the P5+1 - described the talks as worthwhile, but said their meetings would continue in the coming weeks.

Russia: Bushehr's launch set for August

15.04.2010

Head of Russia's state nuclear corporation says Iran's much-delayed nuclear power plant in south of the country will become operational in August.

"The launch is scheduled for August. We're now on schedule," Sergei Kiriyenko told reporters in Argentina on Wednesday.

The Russian official also rejected any concern about the safety of the plant.

"Bushehr doesn't threaten the regime of non-proliferation in any way. No one has any concerns about Bushehr."

The launch of the Bushehr power plant is long overdue.

The construction of the plant started in 1975 when Germany signed a contract with Iran. Berlin, however, pulled out of the project following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iran then signed a deal with Russia in 1995. Under the deal, the plant was originally scheduled to be completed in 1999, but the completion has been repeatedly delayed.

Russia denies any political motives behind the delay of the much-awaited launch of the plant.
