I see you have a curious question. And it has different answers. You are a math
teacher. If you are explaining arithmetic addition and subtraction for example
you say 8 minus 5=3.
If you are explaining a graph with values in the X and Y axis you say negative 5,
if you talk about temperature or any other magnitude in physics, chemistry you
say minus 5, but in geophysics depths underwater are called negative.
Pressure by gases, liquids are called sometimes negative pressure in
reference to a predetermined condition, but never minus pressure.
Pressure underwater on the body is always positive.
Best wishes.

You must say 3-8=-5 , Three minus eight equals minus five.
Of course that is for students taking algebra courses; for kids learning
elementary arithmetic 3-8 is simply 5, no need of any sign as their minds can
not yet figure relative values.
Another thing.
You are translating literal from Chinese to English.
You used the words "it speaks negative five or minus five?"
你说", in English you must use different grammatical structure, example;
"it must be said negative five or minus five? "
Best wishes.

Thank you. I send P.M. to you.
Time ago I used to write here to other persons, no more.
It was only by chance I found your question about numbers.
I am not an English teacher.
Best wishes.
