圣经约翰福音译文值得商榷之处
     近几年来阅读圣经,总有些似懂非懂的感觉,对照英译文本,发现有很多似乎翻译不当之处。早年的翻译受当时对英语理解的限制,现在看来不当之处在所难免。建议有关部门组织重新翻译,以助于人们正确了解圣经。下面举出若干最明显不当之处供英语学习者参考。
1-1  太初有道,道与神同在,道就是神。
     In the beginning was the Word, and the Word with God, and the Word was God.
     Word 的涵义与“道”不同:“道”是老子首创的含有深刻哲理意义的概念。道的本意是“道路”的意思,引伸为事物运动变化所遵循的秩序、方法和规则。(参见 黄灿章 道德经注释 老子研究网)。关于 WORD的所指,可由以下陈述推知:God exhibits his creative power through the Word, and manifests his will through the Word.  God creates and speaks to man through the Word. As we clothe our thoughts in words, so God reveals his will by Word, and when the Word is clothed in flesh, as the Teacher of men, we recognize is as Jesus Christ.  By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.  By the Word of Jehovah were the heavens made…In “Word” and “breath” or “spirit”, there may be an allusion to the Son(Joh 1:1) and Holly Spirit.  The Word-so termed … He was not yet named Jesus, or Christ. He is the Word whom the Father speaking, maketh all things; who speaketh the Father to us. (详见网上查询 John 11 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word…) 显然,WORD 指的是“神之所言”,神说造天地,天地就出现,神说造人,人就出现,。。。。。。神赋神言以肉身,于是,神言便体现于耶稣基督,WORD乃喻指神子。
1-13. 这等人不是从血气生的,不是从情欲生的,也不是从人意生的,乃是从神生的。
       …children born not of natural descent, not of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.  (……子女不是自然繁衍的,不是人为所定,或者说,不是丈夫的意愿所决定的,乃神赐而降生。)
1-14. 道成了肉身,住在我们中间。充充满满地有恩典,有真理。我们也见过他的容光,正是父独生子的容光。(前言不达后语,“什么”充充满满地有。。。。。。?)
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (。。。。。。天父独生子的容光,满载恩典与真理。)
1-15 约翰为他作见证,喊着说:“这就是我曾说,‘那在我后来的,反成了在我以前的,因为他本来在我以前的。’”
     John bare witness of him (or gave witness about him), crying (or He cries out, saying,)
”This was he of whom I said, ’He who comes after me is preferred (or is put over) before me             because he was (in existence)before me.’”
   (。。。。。。这就是他 / 这就是我说过的那个人,我曾经说过 。。。。。。)
1-16 从他丰满的恩典里,我们都领受了,而且恩上加恩。(领受了什么?)
     From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.
     (他的恩典丰富,从中我们全都领受到恩惠,而且是恩上加恩。)
1-18 从来没有人看见神,只有在父怀里的独生子将他表明出来。(“表明”用词不当。)
     No man has seen God at any time, the only Son, who is at the breast of the Father (or at the Father’s side),has made clear what God is (or made him known / declared him).
   (。。。。。。独生子使神为人所知 / 使人明白什么是神。)
1-21 。。。。。。这样,你是谁呢?。。。。。。
    ……What then? / Then who are you? ……(那么,。。。。。。)
1-23 他说:“我就是那在旷野有人声喊着说:‘修直主的路’,正如先知以赛亚所说的。”
    He said I am the voice of one crying in the  waste land (or wildness),’Make straight the way of (or for) the Lord’” as said Isaiah the prophet.
   (约翰用先知以赛亚的话说:“我便是那在荒漠中呼喊 ‘立即修上帝之路’的声音。)
2-21 但耶稣这话,是以他的身体为殿。
    But the words were about that holly building was his body. / But the temple he had spoken of was his body.(而耶稣所说的神殿乃是他的身体。)
3-13 除了从天而降下仍旧在天的人子,没有人升过天。(前句表述关系不明。)
    No one has ever gone into (or up to) heaven except the one who came (or but he who came down) from heaven _the Son of Man. (有一种版本为。。。。。。even the Son of Man which is in heaven.)  (未曾有人升过天,唯有人子是从天而降的。 。。。。。。。他现在天上。)
3-17 。。。。。。乃是要叫世人因他得救。
    … but to save the world through him.
   (而是要通过他来拯救世人。)
3-27 约翰说:“若不是从天上赐的,人就不能得什么。(译文应似箴言。)
     A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.(人所能得之,唯有天赐之。)
     A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.(上天不赐,一无所得。)
     A man is unable to have anything if it is not given to him from heaven.(天不赐之,岂能有之。)
4-10 。。。。。。他也必早给了你活水。(汉语中,活水与死水相对应。)
    …he would have given you living water. (他早就给你永存之水 / 生命之水了。)
4-38 我差你们去收你们所没有劳苦的;别人劳苦,你们享受他们所劳苦的。(收 / 享受“所劳苦的”,何为所劳苦的?所指为何?)。
     I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.(我差你们去不劳而获 [收取你们未曾付出劳动之所得];别人辛苦劳动,你们收获他们的劳动果实。)
     I sent you to get in grain which you had no hand in planting; other men did that work, and you take the reward. (我派你们去收取你们不曾动手种植的谷物;他人劳作,你们收获。)
5-14 。。。。。。不要再犯罪,恐怕你遭遇的更加厉害。
     Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.. (。。。。。。否则。。。。。。)
5-16 所以犹太人逼迫他,因为他在安息日做了这事。(所以。。。。。。因为。。。。。。用法不当)
5-17 耶稣就对他们说:“我父做事直到如今,我也做事。”(上下文不衔接。)
     My father always is at this work to this very day, and I, too, am working..(我父总是每逢此日做此事,所以我也这样做。)
     My father is still working even now and so I am working.(我父就是现在仍然这样做,。。。。。。)
5-18 。。。。。。将自己和神当作平等。(何谓“当作平等”?)
    ……making himself equal with God.(。。。。。 使自己等同于神。)
5-26 因为父怎样在自己有生命,就赐给他儿子也照样在自己有生命。(何谓“在自己有生命”?)
    For as the Father has life in himself, so he has given to(or granted)the Son to have life in himself. (因为正像父自身有生命一样,于是他赐予(保证)子同样自身有生命。)
5-41 我不接受从人来的荣耀。但我知道你们心里没有神的爱。(“从人来的”,莫如“来自于”)
    I do not take honor (or accept praise ) fr0m men, but I know you. I know that have no love for God you (or have not the love of God in you (or your heart)). ( 我不接受人们的赞誉,可是我知道你们。我知道你们心中没有对神的爱。)
5-45 。。。。。。他书上有指着我写的话。(“指着我写的话”费解。)
    ……he wrote about ( or of ) me.. (。。。。。。写了有关我的事儿 /介绍了我的情况。)
6-11 耶稣拿起饼来,祝谢了,就分给那坐着的人,分鱼也是这样,都随着他们所要的。(“随着”用得不当。)
    Jesus then took the loaves, give thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted, He did the same with the fish.
    Jesus then took the cakes and having given praise to God, he gave them to the people who were seated, and the fishes in the same way as much as they had need of.
( 耶稣拿起饼,先祝谢,然后把饼分发给在座的,他们需要多少给多少,鱼也是这样分的。)  
6-19 。。。。。。看见耶稣在海面上行走,渐渐近了船。(“近”不是动词,不能加“了、着、过 ” ,可改为“逐渐 / 一点一点 接近 / 靠近了。。。。。。)
  …they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water…
  ... they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near to the boat…/ drawing nigh unto the ship…

楼主的探究精神可嘉,但要说圣经的汉译,说实话,水平都是相当高的,现在学人,难得找那样虔诚的心,那样深厚汉语底蕴,和以前译者的内在精神。

圣经翻译,还是有点“异化”才好,让人读起来有“神”的味道。比如读英语圣经,钦定版就比现代标准英语版有味道的多,同样,现代和合本里的语言,读起来,感觉也是有种特别的味道的。不能把原文的珠玉说成鱼眼睛了。

另外道,不是道家专有的,而且一个词的内涵,需要通过所在的语境来解释,不能让道家一家就把“道”垄断了。何况“盗亦有道”,呵呵
