Latest Hummer News:

China's planning agency is likely to reject a Chinese company's bid to acquire General Motors Corp. 's Hummer unit, in part because its gas-guzzling vehicles conflict with Beijing 's conservation goals, state radio reported.

The National Development and Reform Commission also is likely to say Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Corp ., a maker of construction machinery , lacks expertise to run Hummer.

China's FAW produces over a half million cars a year and India's Tata produces a few more than that.  One of the biggest problems with the Chinese auto market is that there are just too many auto makers and few of them have a large presence in even all of China.  I live in China and some of the auto makes on the lower part of the list I have never heard of.

One of the biggest problems with the Chinese auto market is that there are just too many auto makers and few of them have a large presence in even all of China.

Once the market does reach a point of saturation mergers and consolidation will start. It is still too early and I understand that most, if not all, automakers are profitable.
