Who is in denial ?

No poster in this thread denied the claims reprinted by buddy, merely pointed out that the source was likely sensationalist.

On the other hand, we've seen plenty of denial of any problems in China, usually that it was all a creation of western media.

Man admits sex abuse at Jersey care home
Tuesday, May 12, 2009

A man pleaded guilty today to sexually abusing boys at infamous Jersey care home, Haut de la Garenne.

At the Channel Island's Royal Court, Michael Aubin admitted two counts of gross indecency and two counts of indecent assault on children under 10 years old at Haut de la Garenne.

The 46-year-old cleaner, who was born in Jersey and lives in St Denys, Southampton, Hampshire, carried out the attacks while he was a resident at the home in the 1970s.

He earlier pleaded not guilty to three further counts of indecent assault and they will be dealt with after Aubin is sentenced on June 22.

Stephen Baker, prosecuting, said they had accepted the pleas after "detailed discussions" with the police and the victims in the case.

He said: "The views of each of the complainants has been sought.

"Each is in agreement with the position the Crown is to take."

Aubin is the first person to be convicted following a wide-ranging police investigation into historic child abuse on the island.

The investigation centred on Haut de la Garenne and police amassed a list of 40 suspects after scores of people came forward claiming they were sexually and physically abused there.

At least two other people have been charged in connection with the investigation.

Paedophile named in search for Maddie

Detectives are waiting to fly to Germany to question Raymond Hewlett, the predatory paedophile named yesterday as a possible suspect in Madeleine McCann's disappearance.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that they are 'actively seeking' the 64-year-old former soldier - who was in the Algarve when three-year-old Madeleine vanished.

Hewlett, who has a horrifying record of sex attacks on girls, is wanted in connection with an indecent assault on an eight-year-old in 1975.

But private investigators employed by Kate and Gerry McCann, who have recently returned from spending several days in Portugal, are also looking at whether he is linked to their daughter's disappearance.

Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for the McCanns, said Hewlett - currently being treated for cancer in a German clinic - was 'a person of interest' but stressed that he was 'but one lead among a number'.

He added: 'It's a name that they (the parents) are aware of. They have been for a little while now.'

Last night Hewlett had been transferred to the intensive care ward of the hospital in the town of Achen and was too ill to meet anybody.

The Most Disreputable Banker Ever

last updated: 1 June 2009
More in BUSINESS NEWS

Let's face it, some bankers do some pretty stupid things - they trade over their limits, hide their losses, engage in insider trading and, like the rest of us, become embroiled in all sorts of immoral and illegal activities. But one UK banker has really taken the biscuit.

Gary Tendler was arrested at the Bishopsgate (London) offices of Dutch bank ABN AMRO in 2007, and charged with sexually abusing a 15 year-old girl he had previously met at a table tennis competition. Tendler, 36, was one of the best table tennis players in the UK, but has been dubbed the 'ping-pong paedophile', after engaging in a four month long 'relationship' with the young girl, during which time he is said to have plied her with alcohol, whisked her off to West End clubs, molested her in the back of his BWM and allegedly on bank premises, and pestered her for naked photographs of herself. Tendler is also said to have asked the girl whether she had a friend for one of his mates.

Tendler, who is said to have earned $242,000-a-year, is married with two young children. He says that he was under the impression that the girl was not as young as she turned out to have been. The destructive 'relationship' caused the young girl to twice attempt to take her own life. She was said to have had low self-esteem and was in mourning following the premature death of her mother.

The former banker was last week sentenced to 12 months in jail, after being convicted on 6 counts of sexual activity with a child, and one count of possessing indecent photographs of a minor. He has also been placed on the Sexual Offenders Register for a period of 7 years.
