Do you know how come  this taboo  ?
I heard that when it is in Qing dynasty, Haren don't want to have their hair cut in a Manchu style,
so they said that they cann't  cut hair in lunar January,otherwise .....

there are several versions of its origin.what you mentioned is just one piece~~

Many Chinses(esp in country villages)use lunar calendar to count days as well as arrange daily work~~

birthday of everybody is of course the same~~

& do you know why you celebrate the Spring festival(年)?

Many Chinese(esp in Norh China) take lunar calendar for counting days and arranging daily work.

Everyone's birthday is the same way~~

& don't you know why your family ceremoniously celebrates the Spring festival evry year
?

Well, Mainly because my birthday is on a special date and partyly due to tradition....Anyway, I don't wanna leak my birthday information here.....
