NO SPRINKLER SYSTEM?
Then better to have a relook at buidling safety standards in Beijing!

i doubt puny fireworks can do such damaged?

One can only think that there was a sprinkler system in the building but it may not have been functional yet.  Even with no fire protection system it seemed to burn far too quickly. Possibly the fire doors were not yet in place. There may have been a lot of combustible construction materials in the building too. If ignited by fireworks I would not want to be the one who set them off.
It is such a waste of money labor and the loss of life.

right!

In modern buildings there is also fire compartmentalization structures, such as fire rated doors,
and in Malaya, i notice, fire proof smoke curtain,

wow!

To all these wet behind the ears merchant . It was not the CCTV but the Mandarin Oriental Hotel close to the CCTV building .

It is the juvenile nature of this diaper wetting exercise that I alluded to . If the same were to have happened in the US or UK no mention would have been made by naive the plank !!

I don't know of any high rise building that has workable sprinkler systems in place while being under construction.

Beijing's modern high rise buildings do conform to intl. building safety standards.

Fireworks can do such damage if they fly through an open window and hit flammable material. That's no miracle and can happen anytime

It is said that the building material is waterproof not fireproof.
