Things that go to justify the saying that the grass on the other side of the fense is always greener are really everwhere to find, a truth that underlines a large amount of human behaviors|
Several years ago when I was still a high school graduate I encountered the same expereince as related by yechenjie: a woman in her late 30s asked me to serve as a translator for her when she chatted with her lover in USA, a guy in his 50s whom she met via a dating website. What they talked about made me both embarrassed and excited, an innocent guy who had not yet known any woman. The woman did not know a single word of English, nor did she show any interest in any higher pursuits; she just talked with her husband-in-future about love, about sex, about the prospect of their living happily together, blah blah... I feel it was nothing but a farce, and I feel sad both for the poor guy and this innocent and ignorant lady who seemed to be obssessed by nothing but material comfort. Anyway, I wish both of them happiness! After all, they are not evil, but only common people, of their own weaknesses. Everyone has their right to pursue happiness, in whatever way they like, so long as they do not infringe on the interests of others. -- but that's really not about love.
