From tv:
Gary managed to break the first rule of hacking, never leave a trail back to you.  Not exactly seeing the Hacking Community rallying around him.

The guy even admitted to being a novice, an amateur by saying he didn't require any highly advanced skills to do what he did.

Seems tv has some problems with his reading/comprehension.

Thanks very much.

Well, Gary was certainly not clever in his endevours and could not have been in the system to cause harm.  As you rightly point out he made no attempt at being a ghost, and was just plain stupid.

The German article is interesting and although the guy was careful and therefore knew it was wrong, he was still caught 'red-handed' and was not subject to litigation as there was 'no-proof' of his intentions.  That makes another valid point in why is the U.S government pursuing this this little man with such vindictiness.

They left the gate open.  Someone peeked in.  You would have thought their systems and security would have been the best. But to be able to enter through places where Administrators had no passwords set.  Caught with their trousers not just down, but around their ankles.

Just plum dumb!!

Hi thanks,

This guy is not the sort of guy who should be in a U.S prison for 60 years.  He will be raped and the subject of incredible abuse and beatings. The opinion polls of Americans have already committed him to a life time of torture.  If it was me and that was the only choice I had it would be easier to end my life.

And that is the point.  What did he do that he should be in such a position?  He didn't kill or rape, he didn't commit violence on another person or persons.  He is an idiot who made a stupid mistake.  Has anyone reading this ever make a stupid mistake?

The U.S critizes China for human rights violations, well here is just such a case that they are trying to pursue in a cold and vindictive manner.

Human rights are common sense.  Is the guy a criminal and will he recommit?  Yes, he infracted, but no he is just too stupid to be a problem to society.

He broke the law so he must pay a price.  Let the guy do a bit of porridge (jailtime) in England and forget it.  Move on!

U.S, wipe the egg from your face. You less than efficient persons in places of high authority in security, go and fix your passwords as you are the criminals.  You are paid to be administrators in security and you don't do it!

Then U.S, go and find the bad guys like your films suggest you do.

Have you got the BL you know the bad guy from 911 yet?  Sure to be in the mountains somewhere.  Focus and get on with it.

Actually...

... the West German committed suicide while under investigation, hence the case was dropped - a la Ken Lay.

No, as much as Gary is claiming to be a 'white hat', the systems that he was spying on pretty much labelled him as a 'black hat'.  And given the issues of 'black hats' selling information and zombots to the highest bidder... he should not be surprised anymore than that kid down in New Zealand who got busted for Spamming a few months ago.

Thanks,

I believe that this guy Gary only has that choice.  Suicide.

If he does the time it is torture for an uninitiated and if he does the other then it is a kind of murder.

The next time the peoples of America espouse, freedom, liberty and justice, then should should look these words up in the dictionary to see what they really mean.

China, after several warnings, 3 years for breaking laws for promolugating dissent is an anathema and to be regarded as evil.

America, 60 years sentence for someone from another country violating your own stupidity in leaving a secure door unlocked.

Stop talking USA and think about your own injustices for once.

As usual freedom, free speech and democracy don't apply to the little guy.

Or even a form of just plain common sense.

Freedom and democracy are largely limited, restricted and confined under politics, interests and personal including national gains....

I have to remind and reiterate something "don't think that USA is a saint."
