‘Gone are the days when the Chinese greeting 'have you eaten yet' seemed like a bad joke...

chinese food has been refined for thousand of years..

most of what is eaten today was eaten thousands of years ago..

while the rest of the world was chewing on hind-quarters of wild animals off the campfire, chinese were eating delicate rice flour dimsum with ground meats and so on, accompanied by teas and soups all created to let people live longer, healthier, and happier

far sadder and more applicable is "gone are the days when "have you eaten yet" was directed towards other Chinese"
