There is also a feeling of disappointment, again highlighted by Mark Leonard, that even though China has grown richer it has not become more “like us”.  There has been an assumption that economic growth and development would inevitably lead to the demise of the Chinese Communist Party and to the growth of multi-party democracy.  This has not happened.  Indeed, the Party’s ability to reinvent itself has so far ensured its own survival and stability. ...

I fully agree with both Geoffrey Howe and Mark  Leonard. Seen from the perspective of Chinese, the changes to their legal system and institutions are impressive, nay, staggering. Even as a laowai f ...

Now this is the first time that I did read anything positive from you about China. I'm a bit confused.

Tkx for your reply. I'm no promoter of socialism and never will be but I have my reasons to be a strong promoter of China. This certainly will NEVER change. :)

There are numerous reports in China of the progression and instituting of more rigid and enforceable laws which protect the rights of the people. It's easy to read, even in the CD so I'd say that China is making great strides in thye right direction which kinda nullifies a lot of what the HR protestors are saying. Things can only get better and I, for one, am looking forward to seeing further positive developments in this area of dispute between nations because it'll give people one less thing to argue about and one more thing to co-operate in.

China has a tiny bit to go before it is fully developed internally so that it can be the world's dominant nation (but I am confident it will get there soon). It may be ideal if renegade provincial officials stop violating Chinese ideals and listen the central government on some issues. For instance, (and I feel especially strong about this since I am Jewish), it would be ideal if the renegades stop putting Chinese religious minorities in labor camps. It would also make me happy of these minorities were not killed or tortured, and if the Chinese press was allowed to talk about these issues. Given China's industrial might and technological prowess, other countries' will see China in a favorable light once the glorious central government reinstates control and stops these distractions.
