Divorce has many negative effects on the children that live through them.

"Broken” homes are a tough situation to deal with, that children across the United States of America attem ...

Thanks, Buddy for the informative posts.

Today's destruction of families and a family life for the children is the result of divorce.

Besides what you mentioned, the greatest suffering by children from divorced parents are ABUSE.

They are EMOTIONALLY VULNERABLE .... first they will be the pawn which the two fighting adults sought custody.  Once that's over, they are DUMPED and will likely be ABUSED by the parent or the single parent's lover, whoever EMOTIONALLY (if not sexually as there are many proven instances reported in the West) since they are totally dependent on this parent and had no other way out.

They are ABUSED and, in turn, when they grow up, they ABUSE.

The West takes a very serious view of ABUSES cases ... perverted adults usually have some background to child abuse when they were young.

Is divorce and broken families, mess mess mess ...... a great thing?

NOT for the chidlren, for sure.

What a dumbass question to ask on a BBS, c'mon buddy, someones spouses fidelity is none of yours, or our business and even bringing such a question to the fore highlights a distinct lack of respect for others' privacy! BTW folks, isn't this about family breakups in China. How'd it all of sudden get turned into a slanging match about the divorce rate in the US and the hated West? Stick to the subject buddy and for once, realise that you can't always try to divert attention from Chinas woes by informing us of what we already know about our own troubles. Might be a good idea to remember that and then you might make more friends and be listened to more often. If you're changabula, well, you've degenerated sadly because I remember good ole chang as being a fairly decent kinda person, mostly.

North, I live in Los Angeles and work for an international relief agency.

May I suggest that you get out of your homogeneous country and go somewhere where the majority of people aren't from you ...

I live in a community with large number of Korean dwellers, some with overstayed visa. Also there's small community of Xinjiang people with their food and characteristics. Added by Hui minority who also moslim with different ethnicity and tradition. Not to mention westerners with their exotic bars and pizza business.

To suggest China with 1.3 billion population is "homogenous" is ignorant. You forgot to mention how many religions, cultures, ethniticites co-exists here for very long period.

North,

Not that many. Chinese culture is no more diverse than white culture in the US. China likes to play up regional differences as "diversity", and s.uppress the real diversity with violence, while people from the US deal daily with people who are not only quite unlike them, but come from cultures which are totally foreign. For example, just beyond Wilshire is an entire Persian community with whom I not only lack a common language, but any common points of cultural reference. Your "Korean dwellers" are more akin to my experiences with British expats in Santa Monica than any real diversity.

I, for example, live in a city wherein I am a minority group. Most of the 10 million other people are not "white": 47% are Hispanic/Latino, 10% are African American, 13% are Asian. Only a minority of households speak English in the home.

By comparison, even the most cosmopolitan city in China is as homogenized as the milk I bought last night.
